“Recently we decided to have our wooden floor sanded and varnished, my husband had tried to do this a few years ago and found it very difficult as the machines you hire are very heavy, so this time round we wanted someone to do it for us. Looking locally we found someone but they turned out to be unreliable, they wouldn’t come out to do an estimate, and expected us to give measurements over the phone. We tried asking friends who are workmen for someone reliable who could do this but it is not like finding a painter or plumber as it is more specialised and no-one knew of anyone. So, I looked on the internet and found ‘Capital Flooring’ what impressed me above all the others I saw was they were willing to move furniture, as we knew all furniture would have to be moved out of the room and with my husband being partially disabled and us both in our late fifties I thought this could be helpful.
My husband phoned and it was arranged that someone would come round that evening (a Saturday) to do an estimate and a time was arranged after they had finished work that day. When the time approached we received a phone call to say that they were held up in traffic and would be a little late – to me this was a good sign, we hadn’t just been left to wonder if they were going to turn up or not, they had taken the time to phone and let us know. When he arrived he was very professional, he measured the floors, asked questions about what we wanted and gave us a written estimate, which was very reasonable. We decided to go ahead and arranged a date for the work to start.
The work we had done was for a through lounge and a hallway, including under the stairs which is difficult to access. When I came home from work the day the floor was sanded I was really impressed – to be fair my husband had made a mess of the floor when he sanded it, there were gouges and uneven bits – and all this was smoothed out. The wood looked as good as when it was first laid. I wanted some colour on the boards not just clear varnish and they had dyed part of the floor so I could pick which colour I wanted. The next day they arrived, applied the wood dye, did a light sand and then put on clear varnish and buffed the floor. I have to say it looks absolutely amazing and it is obvious they worked really hard. I’m really happy we chose ‘Capital Flooring’ and I would strongly recommend them.”
